Was Your Garden Soil Contaminated by Persistent Herbicides in Compost?
If so, please complete the US Composting Council’s Persistent Herbicide Incidence Reporting Form by July 3rd, 2020. All reports submitted before this date will be included as part of their case for increased regulation of clopyralid, one of the persistent herbicides identified in compost. Clopyralid is coming up for review next month by the Environmental Protection Agency, and US Composting Council will be presenting its case to the EPA to limit the application to non-harvest crops and to prohibit retail sales.
- Herbicide Carryover in Hay, Manure, Compost, and Grass Clippings
Thank you for spreading the word about this opportunity to provide input into the review process of this herbicide which is inadvertently sneaking into gardens and landscapes damaging plants and contaminating soils for years because it does not break down in the composting process.
